STC Participates in “Frontier Tour” to Panama, Brazil

The Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) was a co-sponsor of Top Producer magazine's 2010 "Frontier Tour" to Panama and Brazil.  The United Soybean Board was the lead sponsor. One of the primary focuses of the trip was to highlight the role of transportation to the profitability of the soybean industry.  STC Chairman Dean Campbell (Coulterville, Ill.), Vice-Chairman Dennis Feiken (LaMoure, N.D.), Secretary-Treasurer Ed Ulch (Solon, Iowa), board member Scott Gauslow (Colfax, N.D.), and executive director Mike Steenhoek were participants on the trip.

While in Panama, the group visited the Panama Canal – including hearing a briefing on the current canal expansion project. In Brazil, the group visited a soybean export terminal along the Amazon River, toured a number of agricultural production areas, and observed the condition of Brazil’s transportation infrastructure. The STC’s travel journal can be accessed at www.soytransportation.org/STC/.
