Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council joins Soy Transportation Coalition

The Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) is pleased to announce the addition of the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council as a member organization.  Minnesota becomes the 11th state soybean board to join the STC.

The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council decided to join the STC at its recent summer board meeting. 

“The Minnesota soybean industry is heavily dependent upon our transportation network to be profitable,” explains Joel Schreurs, a soybean farmer from Tyler, Minn., and member of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association.  “A large volume of Minnesota soybeans are transported via barge, rail, and truck.  Farmers, therefore, need to be actively engaged in promoting a transportation system that works for agriculture.  We look forward to working with the Soy Transportation Coalition on these important issues.”  

Ed Ulch, a soybean producer from Solon, Iowa, and Chairman of the STC, says, “The board of directors of the Soy Transportation Coalition welcomes the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council as a member organization.  Minnesota is the third largest soybean producing state in the nation.  Their involvement will significantly enhance our efforts to ensure we have a transportation system that allows U.S. farmers to feed a hungry world.”
