Illinois Soybean Association to Host Agricultural Export Symposium

The Illinois Soybean Association will be hosting an agricultural export symposium on Feb. 16, 2012, at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. 

The all-day event titled “Agriculture and Transportation: Hand in Hand” will be an agriculture, trade and transportation conference focusing on the development of export opportunities and training for Illinois farmers and processors. The conference is ideal for buyers, transporters, processors, carriers and growers.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has been invited to give the keynote address. Additional topics to be covered include:

• International market analysis of agricultural trends

• Export Procedures and best practices for agriculture

• Multimodal transportation and carrier protocols for bulk commodities

• Bulk transportation facilities 101

• Inland waterways and the Panama Canal

• Finance export trade 

There will also be a hands-on detailed workshop on Feb. 15, 2012, focusing on exporting and a tour of the BNSF Railway and Centerpoint Properties for a smaller subset of participants.
