Braley, Loebsack Introduce Legislation
for Flood Damaged Rail Infrastructure

Congressmen Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, and Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, recently introduced legislation to assist in repairing rail infrastructure damaged by the flooding in the Midwest. The legislation is an amendment to the Federal Railroad Administration’s Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing Program (RRIF), a program that provides low-interest loans for railroads constructing or refurbishing infrastructure. The amended language will lower program interest rates to 1 percent, extend the loan term to 35 years and ease collateral requirements during periods of natural disasters.
