Ocean Freight Rates PlummetOcean bulk shipping rates for grain declined to the lowest levels in five years, due in large part to the overall world economic downturn. As of Oct. 24, the cost of shipping grain from the Pacific Northwest to Japan was $17 per metric ton – the lowest level since November of 2002.
