STB’s Buttrey to Step DownSurface Transportation Board (STB) Commissioner W. Douglas Buttrey recently announced his plans to leave government service after his term expires on Dec. 31, 2008. Buttrey joined the STB in 2003 after he was nominated by President Bush. Prior to his service with the STB, Buttrey was an independent transportation consultant based in Memphis, Tenn. Buttrey earlier served as a government affairs representative for Federal Express Corp. The Surface Transportation Board is the federal government agency charged with overseeing railroad rate and service disputes and reviewing railroad mergers.
